Morning Keynote Speaker
Tom Erb | 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Transforming the Recruiting Function:
From Talent to Relationship Building

The talent shortage we are all facing is not short-term or cyclical, and it won’t be solved by traditional recruiting means. Leading labor market analytics firm EMSI has labeled it as the “sansdemic”, meaning “without people”. We are just at the beginning of a global labor crisis that many economists and labor experts believe will last decades. What does this mean for the staffing industry? Well the great news is that demand for our services will only increase as employers struggle more and more to attract and retain talent. The not-so-great news is that our own jobs will continue to get harder as well, particularly if we continue to approach our profession in the same way. Now is the time to pivot from always hunting for more talent to building and nurturing long-term relationships.

In this session, Tom Erb will discuss the current and future state of the labor market, what that means for our industry and national economy, and how you can gain a significant competitive advantage by fundamentally changing the way you approach candidate, employee, and client relationships.

About the Speaker: With a career spanning 25 years, Tom Erb has established himself as one of the top subject matter experts in the staffing and recruiting profession. Since openings his consulting firm Tallann Resources in 2010, Tom has advised over 1000 firms in the US and around the globe.

Tom is one of the most highly sought-after speakers in staffing and recruiting, presenting to a variety of industry organizations including the American Staffing Association (ASA), National Association of Personal Services, Techserve Alliance, and dozens of others.

Tom is the author of Winning the Staffing Sales Game and currently writes the monthly Recruiting Today column for ASA's Staffing Success magazine. HR Examiner names Tom one of the Top 25 Online Influencers in Staffing.

Tom is the immediate past chairman of the board of the National Association of Personnel Services )NAPS) and is a post chairman of ASA's Professional-Managerial Section Council, past president of the HR Association of Central Ohio, and past president of the Ohio Staffing and Search Association. Tom is a Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) and Certified Staffing Professional (CSP).
